LoNyLa - London, New York, Los Angeles
LoNyLa is a transatlantic collective that focuses on using technology to develop new work for stage, film, TV and transmedia. The vision: to explore the intersection of storytelling and technology. The group is fueled by graduates of Yale University and the Yale School of Drama.
On July 10-12, 2015, LoNyLa/TimeWave partnered with NYVR, NYC Media Lab and Littlstar to conduct a VR (virtual reality) hackathon. Hosted by Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP), NYU, the VR hackathon took place at the NYU Tisch building at 721 Broadway. Sponsors include: EEVO, Fake Love, Leap Motion, Littlstar, Oculus, Unity 3D and VISR. The event gathered creative media artists, designers and developers to implement rapid prototypes of diverse VR formats - experiences, storytelling, applications and games.
TimeWave 2013 (timewavefestival.com), an international theatre & technology event, gathered 40 actors, 18 writers, 17 directors and multimedia artists and streamed in new work from London, New York, Los Angeles, Singapore, Madrid and Montreal. Among supporters for TimeWave 2013 were Walt Disney Imagineering, Hathersage Capital Management, Arts Council England, Telestream and Vidyo.
TimeWave 2014-2015 aims to knit the worlds of storytelling and technology to an even greater degree, and facilitate the cross-fertilization of two different cultures. While the 2013 festival explored telepresence as a way to gather storytellers from remote locales, TimeWave 2014-2015 will focus on how different technologies can enhance storytelling if not lead to innovation of story form.
