LoNyLa - London, New York, Los Angeles

LoNyLa is a transatlantic collective that focuses on using technology to develop new work for stage, film, TV and transmedia. The vision: to explore the intersection of storytelling and technology. The group is fueled by graduates of Yale University and the Yale School of Drama.

Our most recent programme TimeWave (timewavefestival.com), an international theatre & technology event, gathered 40 actors, 18 writers, 17 directors and multimedia artists and streamed in new work from London, New York, Los Angeles, Singapore, Madrid and Montreal. Among supporters for TimeWave 2013 were Walt Disney Imagineering, Hathersage Capital Management, Arts Council England, Telestream and Vidyo.

TimeWave 2014-2015 aims to knit the worlds of storytelling and technology to an even greater degree, and facilitate the cross-fertilization of two different cultures. While the 2013 festival explored telepresence as a way to gather storytellers from remote locales, TimeWave 2014-2015 will focus on how different technologies can enhance storytelling if not lead to innovation of story form.

The programming over this two-year period includes a transmedia lab (winter), a story/transmedia hackathon (spring) and an interactive playground (summer). Each programme builds on the skills and formats developed in the previous programme. For example, a lab format can be prototyped in the hackathon and then presented to audiences in an interactive playground or show. Our intent is to hone the process of creating and implementing multi-platform properties.
