Dozens of artists from the six continents will converge in London in the spring of 2013 to present an unforgettable mix of live performances, streamed and recorded theatre formats.
"I am really looking forward to being a part of the TimeWave festival - I believe that all the artists involved aspire to set the bar higher for new writing and that the results will be at the cutting edge of storytelling and performance." - Neil LaBute
The Vision: to unleash the artistic potential of a culturally diverse collective via technology.
Consider artists in the same light as voters or activists. Empower them with technology. Enable them to respond. Each artist makes a difference. As a collective, artists can become a transformative force.
Technology has leaped ahead of the traditional performing arts. Boundaries of time and space are dissolving due to widespread adoption of broadband, online video, social media and pervasive technologies. A festival that enables artists in remote regions and disparate time zones to participate in a centralized event is now possible.
Our civilization is riding a wave of technological change that is ramping up. According to inventor Ray Kurzweil, we’ll reach a threshold – the “Singularity” – a point in time when the human mind can’t keep up with the change. In the near future, we may merge with machines to augment our intelligence.
TimeWave is an artistic step into the future of storytelling. For more information, please see: timewavefestival.com.
