Spain and Italy Leap Ahead - "Interteatro"

TimeWave artists Beatriz Cabur and Alex Rios are racing ahead of the curve in their use of telepresence technology in the current programme, “Interteatro.”

As we approach the launch of TimeWave, the Spanish artists are already using live video streaming to connect artists in Spain and Italy via LoNyLa’s technology platform as sponsored by Vidyo. Beatriz and Alex are sharing the practical knowledge - nothing like being in the trenches in front of an audience - of using this technology with the TimeWave production team.

Produced by NITE, “Interteatro,” is a project by Beatriz Cabur and the Cervantes Institute of Milan, involving 46 people and aiming to promote contemporary Spanish drama worldwide.

“InterTeatro” is a new form of theatre that combines traditional methods with new forms of communication via the use of technology. It experiments with different combinations of recorded video, live streaming and live performance.

The first of eight plays in “Interteatro” premièred on February 21st, 2013 in Milan, Italy.

For the first edition of InterTeatro, eight texts were selected from four authors from different generations that represent a wide panorama of styles and ways of understanding the process and purpose of playwriting.

The plays are:

1. THE COLLECTORS by Ignacio García May
2. R.I.P.me by Íñigo Ramírez de Haro
3. BLACK AGAINST WHITE by Íñigo Ramírez de Haro
4. HUMANITY IS UGLY by Íñigo Ramírez de Haro
5. WITHOUT A MOTIVE by Pablo Iglesias Simón
6. ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS by Pablo Iglesias Simón
7. RONENSBOURGH by Beatriz Cabur
8. THE CHEF by Beatriz Cabur

Film director Alex Rios works alongside Beatriz Cabur. Both Rios and Cabur have been researching and experimenting with multiple new combinations of media in order to create groundbreaking shows.
