1: SIMULTANEOUS, REAL TIME
In the first configuration, the same material is rotated between the hubs. What does the writer learn by tapping three cities with the same material? In terms of feedback, LoNyLa’s discussions will conform to this configuration. Example below.
All three hubs clock in together: Los Angeles – 12 pm | New York – 3 pm | London – 8 pm
![]() Same scene (10 minutes of material) is read in all three cities by three different groups of actors, each group taking a turn. Artists and audiences interact with each other on that same scene for a half hour. Four scenes are read during the session (two hours). |
![]() Each hub has a live component and two screens that correspond to the two other hubs. High impact: Artists interact in three cities in real-time. |

2. PARALLEL, REAL TIME
In the second configuration, different material is parceled out between the hubs. Writers rotate to the hub that is covering their material. The hubs are working in parallel, albeit in real time.
![]() All three hubs conduct a session with 80 minutes of material (@ 8 scenes). Rotate the material to the city where it may be most appropriate – ex. London TV script is read in LA or a New York play is read in London. Each session has 24 scenes that are parceled out between the hubs. |
![]() London writers can go attend the “New York” room or the “Los Angeles” room or attend the live session in their home hub. The interaction is between the writer and the hub at the time of the reading – via Internet chat, etc. Actors are not interacting with actors in the other hubs in real-time, instead they’re constantly working on new material. |
3. PARALLEL, NOT REAL TIME
In the third configuration, different material is parceled out between the hubs. Writers access taped footage of their material via the Internet.
![]() All three hubs conduct a session with 80 minutes of material (@ 8 scenes). Rotate the material to the city where it may be most appropriate – ex. London TV script is read in LA or a New York play is read in London. Each session has 24 scenes that are parceled out between the hubs. Each hub has an 8-10 pm session. Material taped if the writer is remote and has requested it. |
![]() Hubs interact primarily through a dedicated Internet portal where videotaped scenes can be posted and prompt feedback from the LoNyLa community. |
