The LoNyLa vLab provides a transatlantic incubator that links London, New York and Los Angeles to help artists develop material for stage, film and television. Leveraging the Internet and live video streaming, the vLab facilitates collaboration, feedback and exposure for artists and new work.
Bridging divides that exist due to geography (e.g., U.S. vs. U.K.) and industry (e.g., theatre vs. Hollywood), LoNyLa augments the development process by providing artists with access to three cities with different cultures and approaches to material.
Time and effort to expose a new artist or new material to the performing arts community and entertainment industry are considerably curbed. For example, a play developed in London can be streamed live to a Los Angeles audience over the Web.
Objectives:
• Augment the development of dramatic material by providing a transatlantic conduit for US and UK artists to share their work and creative process;
• Innovate on theatre/TV/film as a storytelling form via experimentation with new media;
• Expand audience reach by exposing new work to three urban centers; and,
• Build an online network that inspires international artists to communicate and connect.
